Ttrack changes on a protected sheet

How can I track changes on a protected sheet
    Hello Everyone,

I have a forecast document which protects users for making changes except on a few columns. I want to add the option of highlighting any changes they make on that sheet without having to share the sheet. If I use track changes option, then I loose the ability to restrict them to certain ranges. Can someone please suggest how I can acheive this?

    Thanks.
