need to figure out which cell contains text

I need help! I am new to this...I am going to have to explain a few things first. The information comes from a .csv from acrobat via a form for a company. The checkboxes in the form that are not clicked export as off. The check boxes are how contacted...vhf...phone...BoatUs...Dispatch....other....cg.....visual.. that is what goes into E2 to J2 only one will be clicked the rest will say off is there a way I can choose the one that is the way they were contacted and send it to my (master sheet) c2

Hi detailingking and welcome to the forum,

I suggest you IMPORT the data from whatever program you are using into Excel. Then we/you can see which cells the data comes into. Perhaps the correct columns will have data in them and we can start by using Excel functions. Until the data is in Excel we are clueless. Can you attach a sample of what your data looks like, or even the .csv file?

You can attach a file by clicking on "Go Advanced" and then on the Paper Clip Icon above the advanced message area.

It would be very helpful if you uploaded a copy of your workbook. Tell us what you want to change in the workbook. Tell us what the expected results should look like. Currently what you have provided us is a bunch of gibberish. Tell us in plain simple English with examples what you are trying to do.

I have the information going from the (tow sheet) to the (mastersheet) I need to determine which one of (E2-J2)are the way they were contacted. (E2-J2) are checkboxes on a Eform. The Eform is exported to .csv and then opened and copied and pasted into the (tow) sheet. So it could be any of them all of them export value is the name (EX. VHF, Phone, etc.) Then it populates the master and then commission. I hope I did better this time...

You havnt provided much in the way of samples to test against, but give this a shot, in C2, copied down. Its not pretty, and some-one will hopefully suggest a more eligant way...

Happy to help. My only concern is if a cell contains nothing, as in K2 in your 1st sample file. Is this likely to happen?

Ya. I noticed that too. I just figure they will be cool with it. There will always be some way they are contacted though. I really appriciate this.
