    Remove macro security prompt

    Hello,
Here's my issue: I have a report in 2010 and send to hundreds of recipients with macros in it. The problem is not all recipients now how to accept these macros. I've tried to 1) reduce my macro security, which cannot be done due to company's security possibility and 2) send the report through Trust Center, which I couldn't get to work.

Simply put: is there any way to send this report without having my audience approve the macros?

I've researched and found something about a Normal. template file.

Any and all help is much appreciated!

    Re: Remove macro security prompt

If a workbook is macro enabled, the prompt the user/recipient gets depends on the macro security on their machine, not yours.

I think the only way for them not to get a prompt is if you apply a digital signature and they accept/install it on their machine.

I haven't used digital signatures much, other than personal digital signatures on my own PCs, so you'll need to do your own research if you want to travel that path.

Two other options, if the workbook is only for reading (as implied by "report") and does not need to be amended in any way.

    1. Make a copy of the sheets in a new workbook. Copy all the cells on each sheet and use Paste Special | Values to replace the formulae. Save the workbook with a .xlsx file extension. This will remove the code. Send them the copy of the workbook.

    2. Save the file as a .PDF version. This is easier and quicker and may suffice for your needs.

Thankfully, no. Virus writers would have a field day if that were possible. And, since this is a system-level setting, not a document setting, nothing you change about macro security on your system will affect anyone else's.

The real question, IMHO, is why you're sending reports containing macros at all?? If they're just reports, why do they need to contain macros???

Finally, your reference to the Normal template suggests this is for Word (makes sense for reports), but you've posted your question in the board's Excel programming forum instead of the Word one.

    Re: Remove macro security prompt

My spreadsheet contains a Pivot table and the macros run on the drill down. I guess my best option is the digital signature- it's just tough to explain to people around the global on how to accept.
I appreciate all the suggestions and quick responses. Thank you!
