Set filter to EXCLUDE values rather than include them

    Filter.xlsx
Using the above file (which is a small selection from the 25,000 lines in the sheet) I want to set a macro (Excel 2010) to exclude certain values.
When I run the record macro it gives an array to include but this will not include any new values that are created, only the ones present when I record the macro.
I want to filter by column A and exclude codes 10020, 10070, 10510. In fact, in this case anything between 10000 and 11000 but that may not always be the case.
I tried setting up the filter to be less than 10000 or greater than 11000 but that gave me no returns at all (I assume because they are text?)

    Can this be done?

In the example: conditional formatting to column A = anything between 10000 and 11000 (even if they are text) colored yellow.
    Then filter by color.
