    User added buttons no longer working

    We are using a spreadsheet supplied by head office to process orders. The first worksheet has a number of buttons on it, that when clicked run macro sub routines. This was last used about 10 days ago but 2 days ago when it was used none of the buttons were active. The cursor was displayed as a white cross not as an arrow and placing over a button and clicking does nothing.
    I have a copy of the spreadsheet on a memory stick and placing that in another machine it works, but using that copy in the main computer and the same problem occurs. From this I assume the problem is not with the macros (these have worked for years) but either with Windows7 or an Excel setting (Excel 2010). I have set the macro protection to the lowest level and also set the folder the spreadsheet resides in as a safe site to load from.

    I'm now at the end of my knowledge, anyone have any ideas?

    when you open the workbook on the problem machine is the 'design mode' button on the developer tab depressed? if it is try pressing it again and see if you get a message
    do other macros work on that pc?

    Hi JosephP,

    Thanks for that, should have said definitely not in design mode, also other macros work. This did work and no-one has played with it so I'm thinking it is a setting in either Excel or Windows which is causing the problem.

    Discovered this is due to loosing the installed ActiveX components! No idea how that's happened but may need a re-install of Excel.
