Using a macro to define a classification to certain values

I have a number of data entries that record numerical data, what I need is for a way to use a macro to give a classification to a specific depth interval of values. For example, if the values fall between:

    0-30 then its X
    30-75 - Y
    75+ - Z etc etc

These X,Y,Z values would need to be put into a seperate column so that the original data is not altered in anyway. Also if there is a way to make this more complicated and use 2 data entry columns instead of one, so if the values in data entry column 1 fall between 0-30 then it's X but the values for the same depth interval fall between 10-15 in data entry column 2 then it's XY. So it would take both values for the same depths into account. Thanks for any help.

Sorry I am a complete novice when it comes to formulas. Could you run me through it please?

    Thanks.
