    Project with AddIn runs fine in Excel 2000, 2003 and 2007...2010 crashes

    Hi all

    I have a project that I've been working on since 2009. Recently rewrote much of the Code to move all the Worksheet Code to an existing AddIn using Class Modules. This project is a "Dave Ramsey" type project developed to allow my Children and me to better manage our finances.

    I tested the rewrite (many times) in Excel 2000, 2003 and 2007. I DID NOT test in 2010...figuring, if it worked in 2007 it'll work in 2010...WRONG!!!. Today, I loaded the rewrite on my second eldest daughter's Excel 2010 computer. The rewrite crashed Excel 2010...who'd of thought?

    After several hours of Google I found the answer here in "Turning Off Trusted Documents" in Excel 2010.

    Hope this helps others...

    Hello John,

    Thanks for sharing this information. I was not aware of these features. First time I have ever seen it mentioned. It is good to know.
    Sincerely,

    @snb

    I probably should have explained a bit further. I was aware that, for whatever reason (and I didn't know the reason), after the first Excel 2010 run of a Macro enabled workbook you no longer received the Enable Macros message. In fact, the first time I fired up the Project on my Daughter's Excel 2010 machine it fired up fine.

    I did some testing, saved and closed the workbook and fired it up again. This time and several other attempts to start the workbook Excel 2010 crashed. Got the "Sorry for the inconvenience..." message.

    As a workaround, I placed

    in the AddIn Workbook.Open Event. Excel 2010 did not Crash. I manually restarted Events and the Project worked as expected, the Crash went away.

    So, I wondered why I was no longer receiving the Enable Macros message and how can I get back. That's how I stumbled across the referenced link. I did as described in the Link, got the Enable Macros message and allowed them to run. The Crash issue has disappeared.

    I posted this Thread in hopes that this would help others facing the same or a similar issue.
