Macro assignment to button failing

I have several buttons/ dd's with macros assigned to them. I had been editing a macro and then found that none of the macro assignments existed any longer. I've tried re-assigning [R click then assign, but when I next R click the assignment is again blank), re-launching Excel, even from a complete reboot without success. The macro does work when the file first opens, then fails. Oddly the macros do work if I open the file in OpenOffice.

I have not changed my macro settings.

To Post Your Workbook

1. At the bottom right of the Reply window, Click the button Go Advanced
2. At the top of the Your Message Window, in the first row of icons, Click the Paperclip icon.
3. Click the Add Files button at the top right in the dialog box. This displays the File Manager dialog.
4. Click the Select Files button at the bottom middle of the dialog.
5. In the new window Find the file you want to upload, select it, and Click Open.
6. You will now be back in the File Manager dialog. Click the bottom Middle button Upload File.
7. Wait until the file has completely uploaded before you exit the File Manager dialog.

I have assigned some of the macros to the buttons. They work correctly when the buttons are clicked. The buttons maintain their assigned macros when the workbook is reopened. Are you enabling the macros by answering the security dialog when the workbook opens?

Yes, I always enable my macros. I retried and failed to maintain assigned macros in the original and uploaded files. However, the 14.3.4 Office update had just downloaded. Installed it and the problem appears to have vanished, ie. all macros were assigned and working without me doing any fixes.

Any ideas why Excel would suddenly kill macro assignments? Corrupted code fixed by the update??
