Combine multiple read-only workbooks into one, each into separate worksheet

Hi there, I did some research to my question and while the topic of merging worksheets comes up quite frequently, working with read only files is a little rare :-(

I'd appreciate your help here, what I am trying to do is the following.
    • 50 excel files, named (for example): file1.xls, file2.xls
    • All files are located int he same folder
    • All files have one worksheet only
    • The worksheet has the name of the workbook (so "file1.xls" for example).

I want to merge all these workbooks with a single work sheet into a new workbook, giving each imported file a single worksheet, with the same worksheet name as the original.

So ultimately, I would end up with my workbook.xls containing the worksheets file1.xls, file2.xls, etc.

This macro would have to cater for the fact that my source files are all READ-ONLY.

Does anybody have an idea how to do this?

This is a piece of code I liked but unfortunately, I am unable to customize it to meet the above requirements. Can anybody help me?

Just to add: I used the fantastic Excel add-in "rdbmerge" http://www.rondebruin.nl/win/addins/rdbmerge.htm

the only problem is that it combined all workbooks into a single worksheet, which is not what I wanted...
