Search a string in number of pdf files

I have a huge number of pdf files and I need to search through them and pick the ones that have a particular string. For example: there are 100 pdf files in a folder and I have to get the pdfs that have the string "CALIFORNIA" in them. Please give a sample as to how to do.

is a method to batch convert any number of PDF files to Excel. It involves using Acrobat Reader 9 and using the Export Multiple Files feature.

For the lack of any other suggestions, you might want to look at this.

gives four different methods, but it doesn't appear as if any of the support batch processing.

I'm still looking for other options. If I find any I'll let you know.

Of course, now that I re-read you post, it sounds like you might not need them converted to Excel at all. (You didn't say that you did. You just said you needed them searched.)

If not, then all you need a batch processing search utility and this might be easier.

Ed, I think you need Acrobat to do that, not just Reader.
