Hello everyone at Excelforum,
I am really hoping that someone may be able to help me out with a relatively complex issue. I am a beginner to macro's, coding etc so finding the below scenario hard to figure out. It involves 2 way linking and automatic moving of data.
I am looking to link a Master spreadsheet to a Summary spreadsheet. The Summary spreadsheet should automatically update dependent on information entered into the Master spreadsheet.
The Master spreadsheet (Attached) details a number of columns:
Name
Age
Height
Favourite colour (Only 3 possible choices: Blue, Green and Red)
Occupation
The Summary spreadsheet (Attached) will be a summary of the Favourite colour column taken from the Master spreadsheet. This Summary spreadsheet will contain 3 tabs, one for each of the colours. Each tab will contain the following columns:
Name
Age
Favourite colour
The summary should automatically pull the Name, Age and Favourite colour data from the Master spreadsheet based upon the Favourite colour in the Master.
Key Criteria:
• The summary spreadsheet should automatically update the Name, Age and Favourite colour columns taken from the Master based upon the Favourite colour.
• If a favourite colour is changed in the Master spreadsheet the Summary should reflect this change, for example, if the Master spreadsheet is updated changing a colour from Blue to Green, the summary spreadsheet should automatically update moving the data out of the Blue tab and into the Green tab.
• If the Favourite colour is changed in the Summary spreadsheet the line should automatically move to the relevant tab, also the Master spreadsheet should automatically be updated with the change of colour.
I have found several bits of code which can do parts of the above scenario but I cannot construct the whole thing. To have 2 way linking on the favourite colour between the Master and Summary, along with automatically moving data dependant on the favourite colour in the master is proving too hard for me.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards
Dan
