Cell that retains value but adds to it if another cell is changed

Hello,

Just wondered if any of you guys can help.

I'm trying to get a Cell to hold the previous number in that cell and add to it if another cell changes. So I would like to have a cell with the heading 'Counted' and another with 'Total Count'. Every time the 'Counted' cell is changed i want it to add to the previous value in the 'Total Count' cell.

I have attached a little example to be a little clearer.

Any help would be much appreciated

Kind Regards
James

If my understanding is correct, you want G2 to add itself to D2, every time D2 is changed.
This will require a VBA solution, a cell can onlt contain a value OR a formula, it cant contain both
I will move this to the VBA forum for you

As a side note, I see that you have each of those 3 "cells" merged over a 3-column x 6-row range. This may just be for the purposes of your sample file, but if not, I would strongly advise against the use of merged cells, they cause all sorts of problems for formulas
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you
