Need to maintain data from an RSLinx PLC point.

Have little knowledge of excel however, I have an RSLinx linked cell with first-out data (numeric bit i.e. 0 - 17) in an excel spreadsheet and would like like to record its history on a seperate column. The data is updated only if equipment fails. However, the first-out data is reset when the equipment is reset thus clearing the first-out. Need a way to maintain a history of the data in a scrolling format in the seperate column. I would appreciate any help in the matter.
