Is the data form an excel userform?
    Thanks,

Yes it is thanks. I created an icon in the top left hand corner of the screen. When pushed it brings up a data entry form with all the column headings from the sheet but without the drop down menus. Its driving me nuts!.

I have not had an answer to this in the Forum, but the FAQ for the paid forum answers says I cant ask the question in both forums. Where next?

Re: Drop down menu in data entry form

    Thanks, file attached.
When I click on the cell, say C2, the drop down comes up quite happily and works. But when I try to enter data via the form there is no sign of the dropdown.

A second issue has arisen with the test sheet in that when I first click on the desired cell to enter data two, it comes up with one of two messages depending which cell I have selected
    Thanks all

Okay I see your drop down boxes. They seem to be working fine. When I click the value enters the cell. I'm a little confused as to what the problem is. I think we may be confusing terms.

An Excel UserForm is a window that pops up when a certain line of code is ran. Its a second "User Interface" create for people to navigate your workbook. I don't see a userform in the file you attached.

Lets try to establish your over all goal for this workbook.

    Example: Data form test.xlsm

Re: Drop down menu in data entry form

Hi Solus, I have an icon in the quick access toolbar that brings up the data form. Following is the text from the Excel help screenthat discusses the data form.

    Data form
A data form (data form: A dialog box that displays one complete record at a time. You can use data forms to add, change, locate, and delete records.) provides a convenient way to enter or display one complete row of information in a range or table without scrolling horizontally. You may find that using a data form can make data entry easier than moving from column to column when you have more columns of data than can be viewed on the screen. Use a data form when a simple form of text boxes that list the column headings as labels is sufficient and you don't need sophisticated or custom form features, such as a list box or spin button

My overall goal with this project is to make life easy for my wife and I by simplifying the data entry process using a data form and minimising errors by using drop down menus to limit the number of possible entries.
    Thanks

Re: Drop down menu in data entry form

Data forms are modal userforms that are already created by excel. Your ComboBoxes will not show up on this form. Excel does give you the capability of creating your own userforms. It takes a little more planning and work to begin with but they are very useful in the long run.
