Merging multiple rows into 1 row.

    Hi Everyone,

I have a bit of a complex one that is hard to describe but will do my best.

I have a report that shows data for the same thing on multiple rows, with a different value in the same column. I need to collisdate the multiple rows into 1 row and add up all the values in the column to equal the total value. Is this possible and if so how? An example is below.

    Column A
    Row 1 - Mr Smith 25
    Row 2 - Mr Smith 50
    Row 3 - Mr Smith -10
    Row 4 - Mr Smith 20
    Row 5 - Mr Smith -50

So for the above, i would want the 5 rows merging into 1 row, and the value in colum A showing 35.

    Can this be done?

    Thanks a lot in advance

If you have 3 separate columns, you can use Pivot Table.

    AB33,

How 3 columns? I guess 2 columns, right? 1 for name, 1 for amounts.

    Arlu,

No, I misread it. It is in fact a single column.
You can use text to column to separate them in to 3 columns and use Pivot Table.
