    Access, Excel and Macros

    Hi

I have a specialised membership database that my brother created for me years ago. There are two files - the .mdb file and a .mde file.

My bro also made an excel file with macros that extracted certain data from the .mdb file automatically and formatted it in a certain way.

I then got a new PC and when I had finished transferring my old pc files to my new PC i noticed that this excel macro export functionality wouldn't work.

The issue i think is about file paths. I used to have the *.mdb on my D: drive. Now on my new PC however, the *.mdb is situated on my K: drive. When I double click on the excel file to extract the data, i get an error that it couldn't find the source. I presume because it's looking for the D:/mydb.mdb rather than K:/mydb.mdb. The prob is that in Disk Management it doesn't give me the option to rename my K drive to be called the D drive, and I don't know how i edit the macro so that it's looking in the right place...

    any ideas please?

    Thanks

    Tom

    2 options.

you ask you brother to change the code

you put the code on this forum and add the file path the data is in.
Notice my main language is not English.

I appreciate it, if you reply on my solution.

    Hi oeldere

thanks for your reply. unfortunately option 1 is not possible.

Anyway, i found a way to edit the macro to now point to the K drive. However, although i'm getting past my previous error, i now get a different error namely:

    error code 2950
Your network access was interrupted. To continue, close the database, and then open it again.

I can't get past this and I don't know whether it's to do with Access 2013 which always asks me about enabling content....

    Any ideas...?

thanks for any help you can give.

Forummembers can better help you if you add your code here.

Than we can see what will cause the error.

    Re: Access, Excel and Macros

I think it's to do with security and trusted locations. Access 2013 won't open a database not in a particular location and thus the macro fails. I'm just trying to sort that out. will post back soon
