Update embedded excel containing sql in powerpoint

    Hello,

I am trying to create a powerpoint presentation containing 60-70 slides which will be updated monthly. I would like to make it as automated presentation as possible.

Therefore I thought i would use embedded excel tables to populate the powerpoint charts. However, I cant refresh these the data in an easy way.

Currently, i am required to do the following:
    1) Right click on each PPT chart and go to Edit Data. See attached pic Powerpoint1
    2) An excel file named Chart in Microsoft Powerpoint opens up.
    3) I need to right click on the data table and press refresh. See attached pic Powerpoint2

I need to repeat the procedure above for every chart.

Is there a smarter way of doing this? Perhaps with VBA and macros. Btw, really annoying that macro record is not working with PPT

Long time since I've done anything with PowerPoint so this is a stupid question.

You can add tables in PowerPoint can't you?

If there are why not pull the data from the database and populate the tables directly?
If posting code please use code tags, see here.

I don't think it is possible to have tables directly populated through sql. It seems as you have to go through excel and the embedded excel sheet solution.

Then it is possible. However, you have to manually refresh each embedded data table. Powerpoint also lacks the record macro possiblity (strangely).

What i need to do is to develop a macro which performs steps 1-3 above.

No, it is possible to populate tables in PowerPoint with SQL.
