So how do i write a macro through which i can copy the data from a notepad file and paste it in excel. Im pretty good at macros but ive never delt with any file of anyother format apart from ".xlsm" so im not sure how to approach this. Can anybody help?? Thank You :D

A 'Notepad' file is a text file so treat as such.

You can do that by either opening it via File>Open... select Text Files or you can goto Data>From Text...

Both of them should fire up the text import wizard to help you import the data to Excel.

Not really, I don't know anything about your file or data.

Basically you either goto File..., select the file or Data>From Text... and select the file.

    That should get you started.
