Sort pivot tables based on values columns

    Hi all,

I have a series of pivot tables all on different sheets in one workbook. I would like for a user to be able to double click on any column header in any pivot table and the data sorts descending first based on that column, then double clicking again on that column and it sorts ascending. They could click on any column. The pivot tables are not linked together, so they will only sort the pivot table they are viewing. Struggling how to start on this one.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Big_Kev,

I am not quite sure I understand...you can sort a pivot table ascending and descending by putting your cursor in the column you want to sort on and then using the buttons provided. The attached contains a small pivot table and a screenshot with an image showing the sort buttons.

If this is not what you are looking for can you try to explain in another way so I can try to help.

    Regards

    David

    Hi,

Many thanks for your response David. I have continued to look into this myself and did discover that too. However, on the attachment I have now added in 'Salesman' to the pivot. What would be ideal is to sort the amount so that East - Peter was top (on 89), South - Joe was second (on 88), North - Peter was third (on 86) etc, but I'm not sure this is possible?

    Thanks again.

that is not possible because it would require breaking the groupings

if at first you don't succeed try doing it the way your wife told you to

Thanks Joseph, I did wonder that myself.
