    Structural question about Excel/VBA

Hi all, I am new to Excel VBA as a programmer, and brand new to this forum. But I believe many years ago (1990s, possibly early 2000s ?) the code and data in VBA programs were "mashed" together - hard to separate - correct ? For this reason I was urged not to program in VBA if I could avoid it. Has that issue been resolved with VBA beginning with 2007 version ? Is it now possible to store app data in a separate XML file ?

You can separate code from data very easily - in fact, I often supply my clients with a book for just code as I return their processed files.
