Exclamation Advanced Filtering from one sheet to another not working for exact match

I copy a list of mixed numbers and characters all in the following format (with different letters and numbers, but always in the XXXX.XXX): ANA8.900

I have been loading the column with the following to use the "exact" match.

I then put the filter button on so the user can select which projects they would like to view and hide the ohters.

They then appear in my column as I want as : =ANA8.900

However, once I run the following, it will take any values starting with the first character rather than the entire string. (everything is declared as string and format as text).

I cannot seem to get this to work. I have tried the methods for text on this page http://www.excelfunctions.net/ExcelAdvancedFilter.html to no avail.

Any advice? Setting up the filter on the other sheet is not an option I would like to use.

    Hi,

I'm not clear what you mean by "it will take any values starting with the first character rather than the entire string. "

    However try

Otherwise upload the workbook and tell us what you do and what you expect to see.

What I meant by "it will take any values starting with the first character rahter than the entire string"
is let's say this is my list of data:
    A238.770
    A647.01W
    AN49.770

I only want to see the AN49.770 items on the other sheet. It shows me all Items that start with A rather than the exact match of the string AN49.770.

I cannot upload the workbook due to security purposes. I feel that the error is in this segment:
Please Login or Register to view this content.
This makes column A on my sheet "Project" fill up looking like this which is the format in which advanced filtering (or so I thought) had to be set up for an exact match:
    =AN49.770

Once i then enable the "sort" macro, it then shows items that begin with A as well as the the project selected.

I also tried your method and got the same results as my method.

    Hi,

We really need to see the workbook. Can't you anonymise the data, we don't need to know any real names, references or values. Just relace them with dummy values. And if there are zillions of rows just remove most of them. As long as we have a representative selection that will suffice.

Show a before and after situation by manually adding the result you expect to see.
