Copy Multiple Unique Values to Multiple Worksheets

Greetings-

I have an Excel Spreadsheet (2007) that contains over 500,000 records that shows Electric meter usage per month over a 24 month period per meter. What I want to be able to do is to select a meter row per number and copy is to it's own worksheet. At the end - I want to be able to have a seperate worksheet per electric meter number - that I can create a graph. If I go through all 9000 meters and copy and paste into a different worksheet - it will take me weeks to do manually. How can I do this automatically?

It sounds like you need Copy records with the same value in a column to a new sheet or workbook, which also contains a sample workbook...

Hi cwafstet,

If you aim to create a workbook with 9,000 tabs (I think that's what you're asking) I seriously doubt Excel will be able to handle it.

I think you are right so a viable solution for the OP might be to create a pivot chart!

Yes, though I'm not aufait with pivot charts, anything would have to better than 9,000 separate tabs. Even if you were able to create a monster like that it would be unmanagable anyway.

A question regarding above problem. Is it possible to filter and create a chart with visible cells?
I am just wondering. I have obviously not tried but there might be problems that you know about.
If that is possible, one could export the chart to a folder.
Or am I way out of whack here?

Based on the fact that the 11 methods (101 to 111) of the SUBTOTAL function (for 2007 on - see here for more info) only work with visible cells - yes perhaps. Still not sure how efficient this would be though.
