save and close a spreadsheet by a controlled timer

I want to save and close a spreadsheet on a timed event and after a specific event (data entry) is performed by the user but while the timer is running the user can carry on entering data but the timer will resume from the start as soon as the user starts entering data. If the the time on the timer is lapsed the spreadsheet should save and close.

    Hi Baz
How can you have an event where the workbook is automatically saved and closed after data entry and also have the user carry on entering data after the timer is reset?
What are you actually trying to achieve?

    Hi ARGK,

Sorry for taking a long time to return but I had difficulty accessing the thread again so after several attempts I went through ExcelForum Admin and now it seems to be working well.

I have reduced the requirement to just every time the user strikes a key (changes the cell using a drop down list) the timer starts counting from the beginning, if the time lapsed reaches 10 seconds the spreadsheet is saved and shuts down. Please see attached spreadsheet for extra clarity.

    Thanks

    Baz

    Hi Baz
I found some code which does exactly what you want and have included it in your sample spreadsheet.
    Hope this helps.
    Good luck.

Thanks Tony, that has worked fine. Can I donate something to one of your charities or other?
