Find and Replace problem

I would appreciate any help for this problem. I have used
Selection.Replace What:= , Replacement:
in Excel macros before, but I am having a problem trying to replace the value in a target cell with that value shortened.

Example:

If this is the source data in a column (red text color only highlights target) with variable, unrelated entries in column cells other than target:

Thank you very much for the reply. I did not express my problem adequately. I need to search for the pattern "ABC-DEF", check to see if there is a "." followed by any characters in the cell value and, if there is, shorten the cell value to "ABC-DEF##-###". My apologies for the lack of clarity.
