I have posted this question, differently a couple of times earlier and those went unanswered because it was confusing, I understand. I am finding it difficult to explain in words. I will try to do my best in simpler terms this time without detailing my cell logic (which muddles up the problem definition). Please bear with me.
I can work with excel spreadsheet quite comfortably and have build complex formulas but, have not done any macros though, and I am not a VB programmer.
I am trying to search for a 'string' (this is a value in a different cell ) in a 'Word' or 'Txt' file (I have the full path of the file name example: ".\sample.doc" - this is a value in a different cell) and if found then place "Found" else "Not Found" in the cell I am sitting on.
Can someone Please help.
Thanks.
Just an additional note.
If I copy the contents of the document into a cell within the sheet or another spreadsheet and search that cell, I can get the job done and it works fine. I just do not want to paste the contents in a cell before doing the search. I have many such files so, I will have to do that in each row for each file. That is how I am working now and whenever I have a new document I creae ea new row with a cell pasted with contents of that document. This is very cumbersome.
Hope this explains the reason for me to search the file directly from the folder location.
Thanks.
