    putting dates in order

hi everyone, let's say i have the following column and we have the following dates

    Date
    ---------
    12/31/2012
    12/31/2013
    12/31/2011
    12/31/2009
    12/31/2008

how would i be able to set these given dates in order using vba code or other excel methods?

    thanks

All you have to do is sort them. Click the 'Data' tab and then in the 'Sort & Filter' group, click 'Sort'.

    Re: putting dates in order

thank you for replying. greatly appreciated. i guess i should have specified more with what i'm trying to do. what i'm trying to do is to take those dates listed in a data table above and use them as column headers for a report based on dates of transactions.

    for ex.
    Date
    ---------
    12/31/2012
    12/31/2013
    12/31/2011
    12/31/2009
    12/31/2008

then report headers should look like the following:

    12/31/2008 12/31/2009 12/31/2010 12/31/2011 12/31/2012 12/31/2013
    ------------ ----------- ----------- ----------- ----------- -----------

    Re: putting dates in order

This will copy the dates from column A in Sheet1 as headers in the first row in Sheet2.

You would use a combination of Jakobshavn's macro and mine.

    Re: putting dates in order

mumps1, thank you very much again. but what i was trying to do is do what i mentioned above but without sorting the dates. For example, i wanted the columns to automatically have dates in order without sorting the data first. do you think running a loop would be able to achieve this feat?
