Re: converting 2 dimensional measurement from mm to inches

Give at least 5 examples with expected output for better understanding

Whether this text 100x200 Yellow Carboard Box is in single cell?

Re: converting 2 dimensional measurement from mm to inches

i figured out a long way to do this, if anyone has a better solution to do this with one function let me know. this is what i came up with ...

    INPUT
    A1: 100x200 Yellow Card Board
A2: =Left(A1,7) extracts the first 7 characters from the left regardless of digits or letters (100x200) from cell A1
A3: = Right(A1,LEN(A1)-FIND(" ",A1)) extracts the description to the right of the space from the dimensions
A4: =Round(Left(A2,3)/25.4,0) extracts the first 3 characters from the left (100). rounds to no decimal points after dividing by conversion factor of 25.4
A5: =Round(Mid(A2,5,3)/25.4,0) extracts the the 5th character from the left up to 3 characters long. rounds the value after dividng by conversion factor
A6: =A4&"x"&A5&" "&A3 combines the two dimension with the "x" and a space following the description

    OUTPUT
    A1: 100x200 Yellow Card Board
    A2: 100x200
    A3: Yellow Card Board
    A4: 4
    A5: 8
    A6: 4x8 Yellow Card Board

I Just merged all your separate formula's

    In A1 Cell
    100x200 Yellow Card Board

    In B1 Cell

    =IFERROR(ROUND(LEFT(A1,SEARCH("x",A1)-1)/25.4,0)&"x"&ROUND(MID(A1,SEARCH("x",A1)+1,FIND(" ",TRIM(A1))-SEARCH("x",A1)-1)/25.4,0)&" "&MID(TRIM(A1),FIND(" ",TRIM(A1))+1,255),"")

    Drag it down..
