Calculate End Date Using Start Date and No. of Days excluding specific days.

    Hello everyone,

First of all, sorry if this question has already been asked by someone else before. I was wasn't able to find any answer or solution to it.

I want to calculate the end date of my German courses. This is how it works:
A course consists of 60 LU*. The course can occur i. e. three times a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday. In each day the course lasts 2 LU, which means 6 LU each week. There is no course on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and on holidays. Therefore this type of course that begins on 18-Nov-2013 will end on 03-Feb-2014.

Another course which occurs Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and respectively has 2 LU on Tuesday, 2 LU on Thursday and 3 LU on Saturday and starts on 03-Dec-2013 will end on 06-Feb-2014.

Therefore I want to create a worksheet where I set the start date, choose the days and respectively the LU amount on those days. The end date shall be calculated according to these criteria.

The workday function on excel cannot do this and I do not have any programming skills to work with VBA.

    Legend:
*LU = lesson units; 1 LU is 45 minutes

    Holidays:
    28-Nov-13
    29-Nov-13
    08-Dec-13
    09-Dec-13
    25-Dec-13
    31-Dec-13
    01-Jan-14
    02-Jan-14
    14-Mar-14
    22-Mar-14
    20-Apr-14
    21-Apr-14
    01-May-14
    25-May-14
    26-May-14
    29-Jul-14
    03-Oct-14
    04-Oct-14
    19-Oct-14
    28-Nov-14
    29-Nov-14
    08-Dec-14
    25-Dec-14
    26-Dec-14
    31-Dec-14
    01-Dec-15
    02-Dec-15
    14-Mar-15
    22-Mar-15

    Thank you all in advance.

    Hi,

I believe it is NETWORKDAYS function you need. Its syntax is Start date, End Date, Holidays, so just enter the days you've mentioed above as your Holidays range

    Hi wakeupcall,

    Thanky for your quick reply.

The NETWORKDAYS function calculates the number of whole working days between Start Date and End Eate. Working days exclude weekends and any dates identified in holidays. What I want to calculate is the End Date. I only want to put the Start Date, select the days by ticking them (if it can be mady in a form) or by any other form (like an X or a number) and define the number LU* in each selected day.

*LU = lesson units (1 lesson unit = 45 min)
