    Using VLOOK to HYPERLINK

    Folks this is not working for me;

    On sheet 1 i have a dropdown box in cell D which when an item is selected the form name and number are displayed in the cell C from a sheet called Forms
    The Forms Sheet have hypelinks to the actual forms on the web and some on a file on the hard drive and they hyperlink okay..
    This is the formula I used, it displays a "Blue hyperlink" on sheet 1 column C however however the message "Cannot open the specfied file" is displayed.
    It looks like that VLOOKUP links the cell in the Forms Sheet but not the actual Hyperlink.

    =HYPERLINK(VLOOKUP(D:D,'Forms'!$A$3:$B$200,2,FALSE))

    Can this be done, does it require VBA??

    Please advice.......Thanking You all in advance

    Re: Using VLOOK to HYPERLINK

    it will only work if the hyperlink is the url otherwise it will try and link to the friendly name which wont work

    Re: Using VLOOK to HYPERLINK

    Thanks....that is what is happening, as a solution I put a black narrow cell next to it which links to the URL's.
    So the cell that is returned by VLOOKUP has the name and the black cell displays the form once selected.
    The cell is black and narrow to mask the URL......looks okay.
    Thanks for the response
