This cannot be done by simply saving an Excel file in some special format. Excel will save a file in HTML format, but hiding rows based on user input goes beyond what HTML does. It requires JavaScript or other browser-side scripting at a minimum, and possibly back-end coding. You might be better off using a web-based spreadsheet, like Google Docs. Google Docs can import your Excel file and you might get similar behavior.

Thanx for your reply. i tried to upload the file to Google Docs. But it is not a supported file format to upload. I made up my mind to make the project to open in Excel and applied few simple macros to hide/ unhide rows and protected the worksheet from editing.
