    Making a MASTER-FILE that collects individual file information

    Good Evening!

    I have 100 Customer files in a folder. Each Customer file is stored as an account number and last-name.


    I want a new folder with a MASTER-FILE that will collect all 100 file names from the other folder and store them in A1:A100.

    To take it a step further, I'd like the MASTER-FILE to collect the Customer phone number from each of the 100 files and store them in B1:B100.


    All files will be on my C:drive.

    Here is some code I pinched from the web, and made a few modifications.

    You will need to edit the code to tell it where the phone number is. I assumed A1 for this code.

    The macro will ask you for the folder. Just click it, and after a few moments, a complete list of all the files in the folder will appear, with the value in the adjacent cell.

    Test carefully - but I think it works with my limited test.

    David, thank you for your reply and suggestion. I'm code-illiterate. I guess it's time to hire a Consultant to perform this task. I've had fellow "Excel Forum" members try to tell me how to set up code, but we could never get it to work.

    I'll save your code to give to the guy I hire.
