    Hi Champs,

    I have two rows (A and B) in which A is empty and B has names.

    A B
    SAM
    BOSCO
    JOHN
    SAM
    BOSCO
    JOHN

    I need a macro to filter the column B and if (SAM is selected), the A coulmn should input as 1 and for other names it should input as 2 and 3.

    I have attached the example file. Please help me out. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply. I am able to do it with formula but rather i require a macro as i have huge data

    VBA Code filtering a column then filling down a text for visible cells in another column

    Rajk,
    This is a new request which is not thing to do with original one. I have done it this time, but please close the thread once you are satisfied with the solution.

    I have added the code to your original data and the code works with an active sheet.

    Could you please now close (Mark) this thread as solved? Go to the top right-hand side of this page, choose "Thread Tools" from the menu, then select "solved" from the drop down menu.
