    Excel Time Clock

I want to create a time clock in Excel where the person opens the document and clicks a 'Clock In/Out' button that does a date/time stamp on another sheet in the same workbook. If possible, can it also be built to create a new record sheet each week?

    Thanks for your help!

    Re: Excel Time Clock

You leave several unanswered questions, such as:
    - Does a distinction need to be made between clocking in and clicking out? If so, how?
    - Will each person have their own worbook, or will they be shared?
    - What other columns will be on the sheet besides the date/time stamp?
    - What will the weekly sheets be named?
    - Should the new sheets be created automatically or on request? If automatically, then based on what?

Does a distinction need to be made between clocking in and clicking out? If so, how? I was thinking a Clock In button that correlates to a clock in column and a the same for a Clock Out button
Will each person have their own worbook, or will they be shared? Each will have their own
What other columns will be on the sheet besides the date/time stamp? I'll customize it to include the employee's name and ID #, but otherwise it would be pretty basic
What will the weekly sheets be named? Week of xx/xx/xx (the Monday of that week)
Should the new sheets be created automatically or on request? If automatically, then based on what? Automatically would be great! Ideally a new sheet created each Monday

I'm pretty good with just about every aspect of Excel except Macros. Thank you so much!!

In that case, create a new weekly timesheet, and name and format it as needed. Paste the following into a code module. Then create your clock in/out buttons on the main sheet and assign them to the subroutines.

    Re: Excel Time Clock

This is perfect!! Is it possible to tweek it a little bit? What I've done is created the weekly timesheet and added a clock-in button and a clock-out button as headers for the two columns. I've also included a day and date column that I'll go ahead and fill in. Can the code reflect the clock-in/out to occur on the correlating date (since I'm going ahead and pre-filling information)? Each sheet will have it's own clock-in/out buttons.

Also, when I open the file back up, it's not automatically enable the macros. Is there a way to bypass without changing the settings to enable all macros?

Again, thank you so much for this!!

    Re: Excel Time Clock

Sorry, I'm not understanding. If the clock in/out plugs in the current timestamp, then what is your day and date for?

If you to to File - Trust Center - Macro Settings, what is your current setting? If it is "Disable all macros with notification", then when you open the workbook, you should be able to click the "Enable Macros" (or maybe "Enable Content") button that appears below the ribbon. This is normally a one-time requirement the first time you open the workbook after it has been modified.

You know what, I just took it all out and reformatted the cell to show 'day, date time' so that parts good. When I click clock-in/out, it's jumping to the last page in the workbook. How do I get that to stop? Also, since I'm going to go ahead and make it out for the rest of the year, what do I remove from the code for it to not automatically create a new week?

If you always want it to just stay on the current sheet, then this should do it.
