    Probably Impossible but highly desired chart feature

    In the attached file you can see I have a chart linked to data from 1992 to 2005.
    However I have blank cells for 1992-1995, and for 2005 onwards.

    Unfortunately the chart still automatically expands to cover these ranges because the source data links to them.

    Does anyone know if there is some way to make the range of the chart dynamic so that it automatically starts at 1996 and ends at 2004 so it looks nice without having to manually edit the source range.

    You can make VBA code to handle charts and do wonderful things. Run the VBA recorder while you make the changes you want for one chart. Then put up a do not disturb sign and generalise it.

    I found the object model quite complex but that also makes it very rich.

    For the you can use named ranges as the data source. Use Formulas > Name Manager, to see named ranges.

    But why include 1992-1995 if you don't want them?
