Hello everyone,
Our client's legacy system maintains a flat hierarchy structure in the form of Member and Parent (Please check spreadsheet attached for an example) The summing up at the parent level then happens in the system. However, to explain the hierarchy structure to the user and to understand it ourselves (especially in cases where there are hundreds and thousands of members with multiple levels of parent-child relationships), it often becomes necessary to de-nest it or break this flat structure into a pyramid kind of structure, with the parent followed by its child members in the adjoining column.
It has to be noted that the levels of de-nesting would be dynamic and might keep changing for different things being analyzed. It can also be assumed that one child member would have just 1 parent member, but a parent could have multiple child members.
Have attached an excel sheet with an example of how it currently is in the system and how it is desired.
Can VBA be used for this? Currently it's very tedious to get this done. We have to keep filtering at the parent level and then paste it in the pyramid structure while constantly moving down the adjoining cells.
Any help would be highly appreciated!
Thanks!
