Excel 2007 x86, Win7 x64
I've got three end-user workbooks. I've got an XLAM addin that the three end-user workbooks use.
(A) I went into Excel Options --> Add-ins --> Go..., browsed to the XLAM file, chose NOT to copy it to my personal add-ins folder.
(B) In each workbook, from the VBE, I did Tools --> References --> Browse..., changed file types to Microsoft Excel files (XLAM, etc), browsed to my XLAM file. The adds a References folder in the VBA Project, with an entry "Reference to <filename.xlam>" file. It also lists the add-in VBA Project name to the "checkboxed" list of references when I next open the workbook.
Questions:
1) Given (B) above, is (A) redundant? In particular, to I need to do any extra setup (i.e. (A) ) on each end-user's machine, or is (B) sufficient for any user who opens the workbook?
2) RMB on the reference link is pretty useless. In particular, properties doesn't tell me anything, esp. the path to the add-in. Worse, Remove is always greyed out. Is there any way to ungrey the Remove choice? Finally, there's no way to change the properties of the reference, i.e. the full path to the add-in.
3) I've had to move the location of the workbooks and add-in to another network location. How do I delete the current reference and redefine the location for the add-in reference in the end-user workbooks?
Thanks!
