    convert text file macro

    I am trying to figure out a way that I can convert this text file so that all the data is under its correct column. I don't even know where to start. Can someone help me out?

    Hi, dangerdavedsp,

    make the Developer Tab visible via Options where you can start and record a mcaro to give your the idea about what to do - open a file via Text Wizard.

    How to install your new code
    1. Copy the Excel VBA code
    2. Select the workbook in which you want to store the Excel VBA code
    3. Press Alt+F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor
    4. Choose Insert > Module
    5. Edit > Paste the macro into the module that appeared
    6. Close the VBEditor
    7. Save your workbook (Excel 2007+ select a macro-enabled file format, like *.xlsm)

    To run the Excel VBA code:
    1. Press Alt-F8 to open the macro list
    2. Select a macro in the list
    3. Click the Run button

    Hey Holger,

    Thanks for the reply! I tried to recorder which kind of works, but im not really sure what the code you provided is doing. It seems like it automatically runs, and just ends up in a random cell. It does not do anything to my excel file.

    Hi, dangerdavedsp,

    maybe yor should rephrase the question you asked? From what I understood it should open the file and list the data accordingly.

    I tried HaHoBe's suggestion and got what i think is the result you want.. change the file path to suit..
