I am using Excel to create a pretty complex database. I am using numbers in one worksheet to reference an ID field from another worksheet. Is there a way that I can enter text into a cell, have that cell compared to a column on a different worksheet and, if there is a match, replace the text I entered with a number from a different column.
Not without VBA, but you can use a lookup formula to return the value in an adjacent cell. See http://www.contextures.com/xlFunctions02.html

Is there anyway I could get assistance with the VBA? I knew I would need it, I just don't know the first thing about VBA.
It would be best at this point so that the VBA can be adequately tested that you upload sample spreadsheets.
Make sure there is just enough data to make it clear what is needed. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are demonstrated, mock them up manually if needed. Remember to desensitize the data.
Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.
