Formating a cell from a portal?

At work, I am exporting an excel file from one of our customers. It comes over to excel as a "text document" (file type) but that is not my issue.

In one of the columns are dates, lets just say column J for now. This is how is comes out of the portal. 01.04.2014 If you look at this it looks like Jan 1 2014, but it is really April 1, 2014. I have no problem using find and replace to change the period to forward slashes, but to flip the days with the months, I believe I would need a Macro. Would anybody be able to assist me in this problem?
