VBA needed to convert multiple xls file to csv

    Hi all,

I currently have a folder with c 60 seperate xls files which I need to merge into a single xls or xlsx file.
I have found a method of merging multiple csv files via a command prompt but need to convert the xls files to csv first.
Needless to say saving each one down individually would be very laborious so was hoping for a vba solution.
I have been trawling through the net but have had no luck.
It is worth noting that I am a VBA noob so please answer with that in mind

Of course, if you know a way of merging the files without the need for csv conversion that would be fantastic.

    Thanks in advance.

PS. This is for work and I am unable to download any freeware applications.
PPS. I need to retain the original filenames for audit purposes.

    Hi Marc

Thank you for taking the time to look at my problem.

Unless I am missing something, recording a macro will copy everything you do. While I can see the uses for this I cannot use it, as it would try to save each file with the same filename.

I apologise if my original post was not clear (I will edit) but I need to retain the filename of each file. I only need to change the file extension.

If I have no joy with a quick method of doing this I will need to complete it manually, which I was hoping to avoid.
