    Spreadsheet auto fill

I have inherinted a spreadsheet for the capture of test results. this spreadsheet allows the test result to be entered and based on this the date and initals of the person are auto filled. Now the date works fine but the initals are not reflective of the person entering them. I have attached a version of the workbook. To utilise the workbook go to a 'test_results' tab, go to column 'B' and enter 'p' or 'f' the auto population of 'H' & 'I' will then occur. As you will see the date is good but the initals are incorrect.

If anyone can help me to fix this i would be greatful

It is set up to provide the last letter of the username and the first letter of the username. Not the initials of the user. You can switch that if you want. Or you can create a list perhaps in another sheet which can connect the username to his initials and do a lookup to pull the initials. Of course there may be other ways to achieve the results that you want.

    Re: Spreadsheet auto fill

Test Progress Report Template.xls. On this attachment I inserted a worksheet called Username. My used name is listed in Column A and my initials are listed in Column B. Add yours to this list. I modified your worksheet change event in the Procurement_Test Results only. If you now place the p/f the initials vrs. the username will appear in Column I. If you want the initials you would have to create a list for each user in the Username sheet. If you want the changes to appear on all result sheets, I can modify I think by using a Workbook Sheet Change Event instead. I'm not sure if you have the same change event for all your result sheets.

John i must be doing this wrong, if i enter in column A my excel name 'work staff number' and then enter my initals 'AH' the value returned is '#NA' it does flash up and try to populate the cell with the value of column A but this changes very quickly to #NA.

It looks for your username. I don't know what your work staff number is. This sub will tell you what your username is.
