    Average Formula

    Hello,

    I'm trying to figure a average formula but I'm having no sucess ....

    On the attached example ...in cell DD9 you see the following formula ....

    this is the only formula that works for me ....

    =AVERAGE(IF(D7:DC7 ="Actual", D9:DC9)), confirmed with Ctrl+Shift+Enter

    Hello,

    Okay so ... I tried the same formula in cells DD10 to DD14 and it works but the results are strange ... In thsoe cells, I'm looking for the Average Hours worked

    The first average array in row 9 "works" because you're using "0%" as the default value in the source columns. "0%" is not a number - thus these values do not affect the final average.

    In row 10 the 0's are real numbers and are included in the Average thereby lowering final result. If you want to omit 0's also then use:

    =AVERAGE(IF((D7:DC7= "Actual")*(D10:DC10),D10:DC10))
    confirmed with CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER

    this would generate 24.38 per your data

    I just wanted to say that I tried what DonkeyOte had suggested and it worked perfectly ...

    Just one thing ...for some reason ...i cannot mark this thread "solved" ...I'm following the instructions in the FAQ section .... but its doesn't allow me to edit the "1st" post .... only the last post ...
