    Calendar With Events

    Hello to everyone,

Please accept the latest workbook that has an active calendar showing events from the Activities sheet.

I wish to thank all that helped with this project thus far.

PeteUK, John Topley, AliGW, 6StringJazzer, Estevaoba, Fluff13

The green shape upper left protects the sheet and red shape unprotects the sheet. This is useful to keep the formulas and formatting intact.

Perhaps there may be suggestions for improvement.

Have a blessed day to all!

Thanks for sharing. I've moved this to the correct forum section.

NB: The green and red buttons are not working, even with macros enabled.

    Re: Calendar With Events

I downloaded from here and for the first time I had to say enable content. I suppose it is a security issue but after doing so the red and green buttons worked for me. On the calendar the only 2 cells unlocked are for the month and year numbers above the selection arrows. The Activities sheet should only have cells unlocked that are for the user inputs.

Also I had to use the ribbon to protect each sheet for the first time and only selected unlocked cells. After that the user can only click on the unlocked cells for each sheet when they are protected (clicking the green buttons).

I noticed that I had to adjust the zoom level for my other PC because it has a smaller monitor.

My mistake - they are working, but the wrong way round!

Green protects the sheet, thus preventing access to formulae, red unprotects it.

It seems that it would be good to have others trying to use this workbook to point out issues and hopefully get everything corrected.

Others may, others may not - you'll just have to wait and see.

When you've corrected the issue I've found, please upload a fresh copy of the workbook. Thanks.

    Re: Calendar With Events

I see that the green button protects which is what I intended to do. The red button unprotects which was also intentional. I labeled the buttons to avoid any confusion.

    Hope this helps.

That's counter-intuitive: red is synonymous with STOP and green with GO - I suggest you swap them over.

    Re: Calendar With Events

Red is stop protection which to me is like a red flag to be careful. The workbook can be used under protection or not but green is safe.

I suppose it is up to the user. All that needs to happen would be to assign the macros accordingly to each shape and also label them however they wish.

I am sorry that we don't share the same viewpoint.

The attached version has both shapes colored black.

You haven't offended anyone, as far as I know. Constructive criticism is not an expression of annoyance! It's designed to help you and to be thought-provoking. Please take it in the spirit in which it is intended.

KaylaP appears to have removed them.

They appear to have systematically removed attachments from all of their threads.

No - that's a member who joined today and posted two pointless posts (this is one of them) and another that was probably AI-generated. They have been 'spoken to' about that. Please ignore.

    Re: Calendar With Events

As the OP has retrospectively trashed the thread, I am closing it, as it is no longer of any use to anyone, which is a shame.

PS I remember now that there was a data protection issue, and the OP was asked to replace the spreadsheet with one that was desensitised when they requested its removal. They declined to provide that workbook, thus rendering the thread useless.
