    Formatting changes when entering text/numbers

I have been using Excel for 15 years and have never run into this before.
On two of my workbooks when entering numbers or text, the only number or letter displayed is the last one I've entered.
I have checked the formatting options and all appear to be OK, but I'm stumped.
    Can anyone help?

In what way? You have described a symptom. No workbook. No formula. No formatting. Nothing to help you with.

Re: Formatting changes when entering text/numbers

It happens in more than one workbook, under more than one format. IF I type the word 'cat' into a cell or the toolbar as I enter a new letter, that letter overwrites the last letter typed. Once I enter the last letter and it is the only letter that appears so all I see in the cell is the letter 't'. When I enter the number 156 into a cell, when I finish and the formatting is 0 decimal places, all I see is 6, if the formatting is set to 2 decimal places then 6.00 appears.

I understand the problem. I don't understand the cause. And I have nothing to test. If you upload a workbook that exhibits the fault, we can investigate. If it works on someone else's computer, the fault lies with your computer/copy of Excel.

I restarted Excel and all seems to be working. Thanks.
