Import data to another Workbook when keyword is written

    I have Workbook #1 https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...oJg/edit#gid=0

I need that every time, "Q1" is written in row A of Workbook #1 , data is imported to:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...9Ck/edit#gid=0

or every time, "Q2" is written in row A of Workbook #1, data is imported https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...K2k/edit#gid=0

I want to know if this is possible.
I have more items and i need them to be imported as they are entered.
They have no Order; can this be done?

    Thanks in advance;

can you use Q1 or Q2 as the name of the workbook
and then you maybe able to use indirect()
    if the workbook is open
otherwise you need indirect.ext - special function

what data is to be imported - is it just a row of data

Re: Import data to another Workbook when keyword is written

how do you decide what row to bring in ?

lets assume the name of the excel file is
    excelworkbook_q1.xlsx

so if you put Q1 in say A2
then in B2 you can add the Q1 by using indirect

    =indirect( "[excelworkbook_"&A2&".xlsx]sheet1!B2")
will bring in the cell B2 from that workbook

so when you change A2 to Q2
it will change the workbook name

need a little more info on what row you are bringing in and what criteria decides on the row

i'm in UK so will be signing off soon
