GOOGLE SHEETS: Creating an order sheet from a drop down menu

Hi all and hope you can help.

I am trying to create an order template with the following headings

    ITEM - CATEGORY - COST - DISCOUNT - %

I have a data sheet with the entire product(ITEM, CATEGORY, COST) list on sheet 2. I have also created a drop-down list with the ITEM name from the data sheet.

My question is... when i selct an item from the drop down list. Can i create a button that adds the row from the data sheet to the client order populating ITEM, CATEGORY and COST?

    Thank you,

Yes, but you'll need a macro for this - I'll move the thread to the correct section.

Thank you Ali. Was trying to do it in sheets (Not sure if that is a dirty word in here?!) and was hoping you could without Macros as I have no idea how to do it there.

Ah, OK - no, not a dirty word at all, but you ought to have mentioned that in your thread title. I'll move you to the other platforms section, as it will determine the help offered.

Haha sorry Ali, pretty sure there is nothing more to mention that would incur another forum change. Only reason i didnt put sheets in before was that I imagined that the other platforms forum would have much smaller readership.

Possibly, although I suspect most people use the New Posts view. Anyway, the question is NOT an Excel question, so I'm afraid it would be misplaced in one of the Excel sections and readers would assume that you were wanting an Excel solution, which might lead to both confusion and a delay.

Closed in favour of this thread, as an Excel solution is now required: https://www.excelforum.com/excel-pro...rder-form.html
