Automatic calculation not occurring on iPad from a PC .xlsx

    Hi folks

Really getting annoyed at something that is so simple. I have a document that has some trig calcs in it. It works flawlessly on my PC using Office 365. However, when I send the same document across to my iPad (ios 11.4) running Excel, the table appears identical but when I go to change an input cell, for which many formulas rely, none of the formulas recalculate until the calculator icon is pressed under the Formulas heading.

The maths is not complicated at all. There are some TAN and MROUND formulas but even the basic SUM=D6-1 won't update when I insert new numbers in cell D6. The autocalculate is switched on on the PC Excel. I've tried changing the format of the number incase that was the problem for the iPad Excel app, nothing seems to change it. It does work as it should do if I tap the calculate icon each time but that is not what I should have to do.

Any suggestions, please fire away and I'll report back the results. I should add that I enjoy working with PC Excel but I am of a relatively basic level of Excel knowledge and VBAs are beyond my know how

    Thanks for any assistance.

    Hi Firefox,

Look on your Formulas Tab and see if the Calculations are set to Automatic. That would be my first guess.
I don't know much about versions of Mac Excel but I think it would be similar. Perhaps the link below?

Thanks for the reply MarvinP, unfortunately that wasn’t it. Automatic calculations is set on the main PC application. It does this flawlessly and instantly. The iPad has only about 40 simple cells to calculate but does not do this at all until clicking the manual calculation icon and then it calculates the answers instantly. It’s as if there is a hidden option that is toggled to manually calculate on the iPad but I just can’t find it, despite a couple of hours looking.

Maybe open file on your PC or Mac, set Automatic Calculation ON, save, then try it on your IPad.
Afaik, this functionality isn't available for mobile devices but maybe something was changed last time
