Sum positive and negative numbers seperately

Hi all,

Here is my sheet: See the tab called top line

Looking at my spreadsheet

You can see in cells E3 and E4 there are amounts in the negative. This means I am owed money.

For cells I2, I3, I4 and I5, the numbers are positive. Which means there is money in the kitty.

How do I write a formula to add what is in the kitty (positive numbers) and a seperate formula to add what is owed (negative numbers)

It would be better to attach a file here, anyway, as some people may not be allowed to download from 3rd party sites (company policy, or firewalls).

In the meantime, you could check out SUMIF or SUMIFS, where you can set a selection criteria of ">0" for positive numbers, or "<0" for negative numbers.

I have tried the SUMIF in google sheets to no avail. I have downloaded it to excel and attached it if you could please check and advise i will be most grateful. thank you. I don't mind where the formulas are inserted. I just need the logic
