Gremlin with decimal places after input

    Hi,

Granted I am no expert here, but I thought that I would be able to resolve this.
I am inputting numbers into the cells as normal, this number is (without formula) being reduced to a decimal place of the input!?!?!?

I am going to Format - Cells, I check the number input and all looks normal..

Any suggestions appreciated. This is happening on al my work books.
    Cheers

    Colt

Sounds like you have formatting set to percentage.

Go to Options - Advanced - and check if you have "Automatically Insert a Decimal Point" activated, I suspect you have.

The only thing that could change an integer to a decimal value on input (i.e. type 1 get 0.01), aside the above referenced option, is VBA.

(to be clear, a Custom Format could do similar (visually - i.e. shows .1 but is 1) but wouldn't be applicable to all workbooks - which you stated in your initial post)

    Thanks XLent, that sounds excellent!

I'm clearly not at your level of expertise here as I don't know what VBA is.
My integers are being made to 5 decimal places....

If you attach a workbook, we can rule out certain possibilities - are you going to?

    Ali,

Perhaps it is a mac thing. Attaching a book here, even through the advance options seems impossible, very frustrating!
Happy to send it through another means if possible. Scratching my head here!

To attach a workbook follow the directions in the banner at the top of the sheet that starts with: J8Colt Fast answers...
Note that the paperclip icon does not work.

Do you mean that you enter 1 and it appears as 1.00000 or that it appears as 0.00001?
