    Determining break even value

    Hi,

    I am currently calculating the required consumption in % in order to determine my breakeven value. For that I just manually try different consumption % values until I reach 0 . It feel a bit stupid and was hoping that the required consumption % can be automatically calculated by using a formula. In order to show you what I mean, I came up with some example data. The only function existing is the one you see in the screenshot:

    .
    Here is an excellent discussion on determining Break Even Point : https://squareup.com/us/en/townsquar...point-analysis

    But you are saying "Consumption". Are you selling a product ? What are you attempting to measure ?

    @k1282
    Your profile states you are using XL2003. Is this still the case? If not perhaps update your profile as answers are tailored to your XL version?
    Thanks

    Re: Determining break even value

    - I updated my Excel Version in my profile.
    - I do not see how the link helps me to create the function i am looking for

    so I take it, it is not possible and that I should look for an alternative way to calculate my break even?

    Re: Determining break even value

    If that is really the only formula present, then it feels like a very simple algebra problem more than a programming problem -- 0=C3*C5-D3. It's not clear to me exactly which value is "x", but, if it C5, for example:
    C3*x-D3=0 --> add D3 to both sides
    C3*x=D3 --> divide both sides by C3
    x=D3/C3

    and there's your formula for the break even point based on the percentage in C5.
